New module billing address

Until now, the exhibitor master data was used for the exhibitor directory and the catalog, and different billing addresses had to be managed via contact persons. This was not very intuitive, especially for exhibitors. And error-prone, since the exports and interfaces had to be adapted manually for each customer.

In the future, the contract or billing address will be managed from the master data module. To allow a different entry in the exhibitor directory, there is a new module "Marketing address" in the exhibitor area with the option to automatically transfer the data from the master data.

The change will be rolled out at the end of November.

More stability in the coming year

In the past weeks, we have refactored a lot of things, in particular to provide significantly more database stability and fail-safety. profairs is currently running on redundant hardware, but the software and the database are not redundant. If a service fails, profairs is no longer available. We will therefore switch to a new application server, which we will mirror redundantly via a second data center in the first half of 2023. If one instance fails, the second instance automatically takes over the process with a small time delay and reconciles the data as soon as the failed instance is available again. This ensures a significantly higher level of fail-safety. The primary instance will continue to be hosted on our servers in Frankfurt.

We plan to roll out the update between 12/19 and 12/23. Since this is a major change, you may experience brief outages on one of the two days. However, we will inform you in time on which day we plan your changeover.

Trade show related user groups

Previously, it was already possible to create user groups for individual trade fairs in the profairs user administration, but it was also possible to create and manage groups across trade fairs. However, this led to problems in rights management, so that access for members who were assigned to different cross-fair user groups did not work correctly. We have therefore removed the option to create user groups for all trade shows, meaning that for each trade show event a new user group must be assigned to the users in question.
